Tectonic Event (Pastel, 61 x 46)
Many of Peter’s more recent paintings have begun as exploratory marks on paper or canvas; as these develop, the mark making may suggest a subject, or remind Peter of a place or event. “The essential thing is to work in a state of mind that approaches prayer.” (Henri Matisse). A number of these works were produced in an attitude of prayer, influenced by Peter’s Christian faith.
